How Pinterest shows the label
Pinterest applies an AI-generated content label on the pin and uses it for experience controls (for example, reducing this kind of content in certain categories). The platform treats embedded C2PA credentials as one of its classification signals.
How to remove it, step by step
- Check the pin in the checker to see the credentials and metadata present.
- Clean the file or use the /c2pa mode for provenance credentials.
- Because pins often come from design exports, also review /xmp.
- Download, check again and upload the pin without re-editing.
Nuance and false positives
Pins made in design tools such as Canva or Photoshop often carry provenance metadata even when the content is yours; that is where false positives show up most. Cleaning the file fixes that case. Remember that Pinterest can classify by other means, and we do not remove invisible pixel-level watermarks.
Final tip
If you manage many pins, use batch processing (up to 5 images) and leave cleaning as the last step before you schedule or publish.
