Clean Meta AI metadata

Images created with Meta AI (Imagine, built into Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook) come out labeled in several ways at once, and it is worth separating them because not all of them can be removed. On one side there is metadata (IPTC/XMP and, depending on the flow, C2PA credentials): that can be removed. On the other, Meta applies pixel-level marking, and that is a different matter.

Remove IA Label cleans the metadata without recompressing the image, and we want to be clear about what remains.

What Meta AI adds to its images

How to clean what can be cleaned

1. Upload the image to the checker to see which metadata it carries. 2. Apply /exif, /xmp and /c2pa as needed. 3. Download the file; it is not recompressed and the pixels do not change.

Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF and HEIC.

What cannot be removed (important)

Meta uses invisible pixel-level marking to flag its AI images. That kind of mark lives inside the pixels themselves, not in a metadata header, so our tool does not remove it. We also do not remove a visible watermark painted on the image (that would mean altering pixels, and we do not do that). What you get is a file without provenance metadata and credentials; not a file guaranteed to be undetectable.

Privacy

The image is uploaded to our server, processed and deleted after 5 minutes. It is not used for training, we add no watermark, no account is required and the service is free.

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove Meta’s invisible watermark?

No. Meta’s invisible mark is at pixel level, not in the metadata. We only remove metadata and credentials; the pixels are not touched.

What about the visible “Imagined with AI” mark?

Not that either. It is painted into the image pixels; removing it would mean altering the image, and our tool does not modify pixels.

Then what is the point of cleaning a Meta AI image?

To remove provenance metadata and credentials (IPTC, XMP, C2PA), which are real data traveling in the file. It is an honest clean, not a promise of invisibility.
