Clean ChatGPT Image metadata

Images you create directly inside ChatGPT (OpenAI’s built-in image generation) come out with embedded provenance metadata, usually as C2PA / Content Credentials, the same approach as DALL·E. The standard’s goal is traceability; the practical effect is that the file is labeled as AI content.

Remove IA Label removes that manifest and the associated metadata without recompressing the image or altering a pixel.

JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, HEIC · up to 5 photos · 100 MB · no GIF · pixels untouched. iCloud or cloud? Download the full original; files under 4 KB are usually a proxy.

What ChatGPT embeds when it generates an image

The typical trail is a signed C2PA credential, sometimes accompanied by XMP blocks and a reduced EXIF. It is OpenAI’s same provenance approach: the “generated by AI” label travels in the file’s metadata, not in the visible image.

How to clean it

Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF and HEIC. If ChatGPT gave you a PNG or a WebP, that is fine.

What we cannot promise

We remove the label inside the file. We have no control over what OpenAI may log on its platform when the image is generated, and we do not remove any possible pixel-level mark (our work is on metadata and credentials, not on pixels). Be realistic: cleaning metadata reduces the visible trail in the file; it does not make it undetectable.

Privacy

The image is uploaded to our server, processed and deleted after 5 minutes. It is not used for training, we add no watermark, no account is required and the service is free.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as cleaning a DALL·E image?

The approach is very similar: both usually carry OpenAI C2PA credentials. The checker confirms exactly what your particular file contains.

What if I download the image as a screenshot?

A screenshot usually loses the original credentials, but it gains your device’s metadata. Run it through the checker anyway.

Does the quality stay intact?

Yes. We do not recompress; the pixels are identical and that can be verified by hash.
